Colorado weather: straight out of The Sims
Again with the local forecasts. Today’s predicted high at 8 a.m. was 70. Actual high today? 84 degrees. That’s right. Fifteen degrees off. And as I type this, they’re blabbering on about solar flares, geomagnetic storms and (*gasp*) the fact that it might interfere with your cell phone calls. Muy muy importante! I thought Erie’s news was dumbed-down and forecasts were off. But this is a big city and this is the “best” news station they have to offer? Gak.
Have I mentioned it never rains here? Never. Ever. Ever. Well once it rained: the day we moved from the apartment into this house. The one day clear skies would have been a boon. But we’ve been here since mid-June and it’s always (1) hot and (2) dry. Even good weather can get boring. It was actually overcast one morning a few weeks ago and it threw me off.
Every time my mother calls she asks, “How’s the weather?” and my answer is always “Hot. Dry. Bright. No clouds.” It’s a very weird place.
There’s some car dealership advertising how Denver was “bombarded by 88 inches of snow last year.”
BWAH!
If I remember correctly, we had about 200 inches last year in Erie. And that was normal. Low, even. It was the cold, not the snow last winter. Anyway, this is ridiculous. I never thought I’d be counting days to move back to rainy, overcast, cold Octobers but I am.
