Z is a headbanger. She bangs her face off the sofa, the ottoman, etc. That’s when she’s happy. When she’s in tantrum mode, she bangs her head on the wall, the floor, people, etc.
Last night at her bedtime Hawk & I had been winding her down, unsuccessfully, and he was about to head off to bed himself. I said, “Watch her while I go pee.” Why don’t we leave her alone? B/c (1) new toddler bed + (2) headbanging tantrums.
Sure enough I hadn’t even started to pee yet when I hear *whack* “Zoe!” *pause* *deep breath* *scream* *cry* “Let me see. Oh god.”
To make a long story short, Baby Z has two little stitches above her eyebrow, thanks to the fine folks at Hamot Medical Center. She also got three stickers and a little stuff animal: Stitchy the Pig (or so we’ve named it). Since we were up ’til about two a.m. (and then Hawk got a phone call at 6 and had to get up & go to work), she’s still sleeping. So the upside is that I managed to get a shower, complete with Hair Washing. I’m only up b/c (1) some cell phone asshole called here at 9:30 & Hawk had the ringer on in the bedroom (if it were up to me there would be no phone in the bedroom period) and (2) at 10:10, Z was fussy so I gave her some Motrin.
I also learned last night while she was being cared for that she’s getting yet more teeth. She also had a cry like a motorboat noise (bbbbbbb) at one point.
Well she’s up. I’m off.
BTW: she’s 100% fine and was before we even left the ER. Hey! Free pig!

micah’s a head banger, too. for her, we realized that she just wanted attention. *bang* looks up at the adults, no reaction, *bap* looks up at the adults, etc… she only cried if we looked at her and she only caused herself physical pain (i.e. bruises and/or cuts or carpetburn) a handful of times before realizing that it wasn’t fun.

been there, done that too. gotta love the hamot er. but i am a little bummed that we got no pig. what evan did get was a bunch of great drugs (he had to be put under for stitches because his were on his lip). ah, scars are memories too.

Skinny Dino and Mouse did what we called the Goat Cry (a-a-a-a-a-a-a) under extreme duress. Sounds similar. Hope you all recover soon.

Eden was off on her times. Baby Z went to sleep at 2:30am. We’ve been lucky for all the diving and head banging she does. So now, we all have scars on our faces.
