Ladies & gentleman, the President of the United States

We’ve got a lot of rebuilding to do. First, we’re going to save lives and stabilize the situation. And then we’re going to help these communities rebuild. The good news is — and it’s hard for some to see it now — that out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic Gulf Coast, like it was before. Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott’s house — he’s lost his entire house — there’s going to be a fantastic house. And I’m looking forward to sitting on the porch. (Laughter.)

“Laughter.” You read that right. I didn’t add it. It’s in the transcript (post title is link).

Well I’m glad to know he intends to SIT ON HIS FUCKING ASS SOME MORE!

I’m so glad that Trent Lott will be rebuilding out of the “rubbles” of his house. He’s lost his entire house! The whole thing! The shock! The tragedy!

And I wondered why FEMA and others were under the impression that the refugees in NO “didn’t evacuate” b/c they were stubborn or lazy or stupid. Weren’t they told to go to the Superdome and other shelters? Do the idiots at FEEBLE (so nicknamed in 1992 during Andrew’s aftermath and not by me) realize that not everyone has a car, money for gas, money for a hotel, relatives who live in another city, etc.? That it’s possible that not everyone has the means to just get up and go? This is what you get when Bush appoints yet another buddy to head an important department. What exactly is “Brownie’s” training in emergency management again?

At least Bush will have a porch to sit on if he ever stops flying over Mississippi and actually goes there.
