Sampling

They’re the cookies on the lower left. The others are gingersnaps (Pilsbury pre-made dough) and Chocolate-Raspberry Almond Cookies (recipe on Nestle chocolate-raspberry chips) .

Triple Chocolate Orange Cookies

  • 1 c sugar
  • 2/3 c butter, softened
  • 1 T orange zest
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 1/3 cocoa
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c chopped pecans
  • 1/2 c semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c bittersweet chocolate chips *

For rolling:

  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 1 tsp orange zest

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat sugar & butter. Add zest and egg. Mix well. Stir in flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Mix well. Add chips and pecans and mix. Make 1 1/2″ balls of dough (I recommend a cookie scoop; Target has a nice one at their Dollar Spot right now). Roll balls in the sugar/zest mix. Place on cookie sheet and flatten with fingers, fork or bottom of glass. Bake 9-11 minutes or until set. Cool on wire rack.

* you don’t have to use the bittersweet chips. If you like, use 1 c semisweet chips instead (a 6 oz bag). If you don’t, they’re “double chocolate orange cookies.” The bittersweet adds a layer of different flavor and variety to your cookie.

One medium sized orange will give you enough zest for this recipe.

  • i loooooooove orange & chocolate together… i think i might have to make these cookies. i thought my cookie bakin was done… i only made 42 cookies, but that’s a triple batch of choklit chip and a double batch of the oatmeal cranberry. they’re just that huge :).

btw… my mixer is *imperial red*. i don’t think they even sold it in mango back when i got it… i love mine but i’m wishing now it was a slightly funkier color. i really dig the turquoise one in person.

i got it at kohl’s for like a buck sixty… i fuckin dig sweet deals on kitchen power toolz!

  • Joolz got toolz! ;)

Yeah I got mine during an Amazon special. It was under $200, with shipping. Just the color I wanted too.

  • Mmmmm…. I need to stop reading your posts so late at night.

I have a cookie swap on Monday. I always bring pecan lace cookies and molasses cookies. I love anything with cloves and/or allspice in it! Yummy.

  • Ok, we will have to see what mine turn out like. I changed it up…I added broken pits of Hershey Chocolate Bars (Double Choc not Triple) and last night I had a bowl of slivered almonds, mandarin oranges and currants left over from our salad, so I threw about 3/4 of a cup of that into the batter. Hmmm. With the zest as well? Should be orangey delicious! ;)
