Zoe is a finalist…

… or more accurately a photo of her is a finalist in the Blogging Baby FAO Schwartz contest. The photos are all adorable, I think (the girl with the frog in the stroller cracksme up).

The story behind the photo is this: The three of us were down in the playroo. Usually Zoe is running around like a mad child, playing something or acting along with a DVD. For some reason she decided to grab that big Pooh bear and come sit next to me on the sofa. Holden kept playing and Zoe just sat and hugged that Pooh forever (it was from Santa last year, when H was a newborn; she only recently took to it). I said, “What are you doing?” She said, “I’m having a huggie with Pooh.” Then a few minutes later she said, “Okay. All done.”

Wouldn’t it be nice to just stop what you’re doing once in a while and have a Hug Break. Not from the creepy guy in the next office but from someone you love or just to sit and hug a big cuddly toy?

The other detail I wanted to mention is that it was about 3 in the afternoon and the room was flooded with light. The photo was taken in natural light, no flash. I had the camera with me b/c I usually like to take it down on sunny days to grab some natural light photos. Fortuitous, no?

The prize in the contest is an FAO Schwartz gift certificate*. As we’ve said before, we will donate at least half of any prize values to charity. The way I read it, there will be eight finalists and two winners. There are ten posted photos which means that our holiday charity (St Jude’s) will be getting a little something beyond what we had intended to give. Between that and the photo being chosen, it’s been a great morning.

If you’d like to vote for some of your favorite photos, Blogging Baby has encouraged people to do so (link above). I can’t see any reason why people couldn’t pick a few. I’m not sure if they want people to express their opinions at Blogging Baby or at Flickr (I assume at Blogging Baby but I think it’s the FAO Schwartz folks who are choosing and I don’t know that they’ll be dropping in on the post).

So a shout-out for our photo would be appreciated, if you’d like to do it.

* Whatever we buy w/ the GC will replace other toys. Those will be donated or passed on in some way as well. Just FYI. :)
