Miss Cellania today is about Star Wars. Zoe is getting into Star Wars now, much to Hawk’s & my delight. B/c I can only take so much more “Blue’s Room” and Pirates of the Caribbean.” Zoe calls it “Star Wars” no matter which movie it is and her favorites are the “robots.”
Here are some choice bits from today’s Miss Cellania.
10. “You don’t need to see my goddamn identification, ’cause these ain’t the motherfuckin’ droids you’re lookin’ for.”
9. “Well, womp rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I would never know, ’cause I wouldn’t eat the filthy motherfucker.”
8. “This is your father’s lightsaber. When you absolutely, positively have to kill every motherfuckin’ stormtrooper in the room, accept no substitutes.”
7. “If Obi-Wan’s ass ain’t home I don’t know what the fuck we’re gonna do, ’cause I ain’t got no other partners on Tatooine.”
6. “Feel the force, motherfucker.”
5. “You sendin’ the Fett? Sheeeyit, Hutt, that’s all you had to say.”
4. “Yeah, Chewie Rocky Horror has a hair problem. What’s the brother gonna do: he’s a Wookie.”
3. “Does Jabba the Hutt look like a bitch?
2. “‘What’ ain’t no planet I ever heard of. They speak Bocce on What?”
1. ” Hand me my lightsaber. It’s the one that says ‘Bad Mother Fucker’ on it.”
Then, to warm up for the MP/SW mash-up, enjoy this MP/ST mash-up, then watch:
The silent version.
Some excellent Photoshoppery, recasting the SW franchise.
I know I’m not blogging anything of interest. Now that Erie & environs thinks my typical blog entry is a vapid Stepford wife chronicle of Holden playing with rolls of toilet paper, I should make a little effort to include content this week. However, I’ll have to play into the stereotype b/c H doesn’t feel good, was up half the night & wants to cuddle today. So enjoy the linkage and may the Force be with you.

Oh my Gods I just wasted 25 minutes staring at Star Wars photoshopped goodness. So freakin’ funny. I think Gollum/Yoda may be the funniest thing ever. “Prrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeccccccccccioussssssss the ring is, hmm.”

I swear, when I read the last sentence my mind saw, “May the Farce be with you.”

I don’t know why this post is bringing me out of my lurking corner, but here I am.
My son, who just turned four, is suddenly all about Star Wars too. I didn’t realize how serious he was about it all until I went to watch the Idol results show the other night and found that the recordings for both Idol and Grey’s Anatomy had been canceled to record Star Wars instead. I was not pleased, but had to admit I was glad my shows weren’t replaced by more Backyardigans. Must be something in the preschool air…

Oh! A lurker outted! I love that
There are way worse things than Backyardigans though. “Lazy Town” springs to mind
Z is also into Superman. Maybe it’s the music
We’ll try Indiana Jones next.

The least they could have done was print the story and pictures of your sex toys or the story and picture of your underwear, eh? Those silly ETN writers. If only they had known just how much exposure you were hoping for.
I can’t help but wonder if (considering what a let down the story was) you have any regrets about revealing your real name and blowing your pseudonym cover.
If not for being interviewed for the ETN story, do you think you would have ever considered exposing your real name to the blogosphere?
If so, what else might have prompted you?
If not, then why not?
Or even, why did you feel a pseudonym was important for six years, and during the interview you decided it was time to expose yourself to your public?
You don’t have to answer those questions, but I bet some of your other regular readers might be wondering the same.
Just curious.

So you think that a laundry list of what my son can do at 14 months is typical of a blog entry for me? I could do a laundry list of more than adequate quotes from recent entries that would have been appropriate for the article. And they didn’t do it just to me. None of the blogs quoted were represented for what they are. EriePressible being about what Emma & Al were doing for dinner? Come on.
I have never hidden my real name. My blog has always been accessible under my real name. I write under my real name and include links to my blog from my writing portfolio and from Toasted Cheese. I’ve said many, many times what my real name is. I’m not ashamed of my blog nor of my name and that’s why I revealed it. I think you may be confused about the use of pseudonyms. If you think I blog under this name for 100% anonymity, you’re obviously mistaken.
I knew better than to think I would get any increase in hits from the article. No one reads the ETN anymore. My disappointment was that I was under the impression it would be an article on the Erie Bloggers. Instead it was a general article on blogging given a slight local angle. As I’ve commented at many Erie Blogger blogs this week, I think an editor went to town on it. There’s no way that a reporter as prepared as the one I spoke to would not have used the interviews (via phone and in person) and research in her article. I’ve also made no secret of how I feel about the Erie media.
I’m curious as to why you commented on a Star Wars article instead of on one of my posts about the ETN article. I’m also curious how it took you so long to work your way over here when I saw you complaining about our reactions to the article over at Jenson’s. Poor taste to bitch about other bloggers in someone else’s comments. Puts that blogger in an awkward position.
I have every right to think the article was less than great and the exerpts less than representative of every blog exerpted. There are dozens of Erie bloggers and they quoted what, four of us? Linked to four or five? If you’re looking to find the bitter, it’s not here.
Speaking of pseudonyms, did you want to keep using “Lilith” or are you going back to “msteerious” any time soon? Or maybe your real name, Patti? If you really want to get into a discussion about online aliases, we can do that no problem.

OY!!
Wow, I detect some serious hostility. I’m sorry if I’ve touched a nerve. I do like to stir the pot, but I’m not trying to be as you like to say, “snarky.” Sometimes the questions alone are enough to push buttons, but I’m always surprised by the level of hostility that women will have toward another woman when she dares to be candid and frank with her questions and observations. (two men can be candid with each other; so can a man and woman; but when it comes to one woman being candid with another woman…….proceed with caution!)
You ask why I chose to write on the “Star Wars” post? Simply because that is where I took the quote from. No alterior motives.
You also ask why I chose to write on Jenson’s blog. I already explainedit, but in case anone reading this is wondering, I’ll reiterate: because I wanted a “neutral” lace to write commentary so that no one blogger would feel I was talking about her. I had thought about osting that commentary on both blogs, but decided it wasn’ta good idea to tangle the thread up in so many blogs. So I chose a neutral one knowing that all the featured bloggers in the ETN story would all b reading each other’s blogs at least that one day.
So to answer your insinuating questions, I did not have some ulterior motive nor was I avoiding you or anyone else.
To answer your other question regarding the use of my two pseudonyms as opposed to using my real name, you have exposed another side of yourself to your readers…..the vengeful, scorned woman side….. by taking it upon yourself to use my name. THAT is bad taste, Eden. I have my own personal reasons for using pueusonyms, and whether someone could easily go searching out my real name or not, that is still my own personal perogative, Stephanie. (I think Kara and Erica got that much right.)
You may claim you are not protecting your real identity with the use of a pseudonym on your blog, Eden, but being buried somewhere in another blog is hardly being up front with your real name. Most authors provide the titles of their books and the name they are under rather than the just ISBN numbers.
And, so you’re not confused here, I don’t care if you use a pseudonym or not. Lots of writers do. Nobody came close to accusing you of being ashamed. You are the one who, a day before the article was to appear, gave a long commentary (sure we were sild in Erie, Penn.) about that very thing…..giving all the reasons you are not ashamed of the personal stuff you send to the blogosphere. And you also went into a lengthy explanation of why you fell it’s best to not use real names for your husband and kids. I only became curious about your decision to use your real name AFTER you decided to have it published in the local paper of your former hometown.
And I think others were curious about it, too. Before the Erie Times News story, I didn’t even care.
Sorry you got so defensive with my questions and my own commentary. Oy!
Just imagine how Kara and Erica must feel with all the belittling of their hard work. Nothing nice to say about their story. Not one. Just criticisms. And not just of them, but of their editor and the Newspaper itself. There’s the bitterness you wondering about that I noticed.
It’s one thing to trash someone and the paper they work for, but, given the utter disdain you have for the Erie Times News, why did you prostitute yourself to it for a little publicity? Especially knowing ahead of time, as you pointed out, “nobody reads it anyway?”
Just curious.
And, may the Force be with you, too.
the msteerious one

Wow. Someone reads a lot into your doing a news article don’t they.
Ah high school. It never leaves us…
February 28, 2007 at 6:49 pm
Sigh, Thordora’s right, highschool never leaves us.
And why do I get the feeling that Lilith has some sort of stake in ETN?
Oh, and Lilith? If you couldn’t sense the hostility inherent in your “innocent” questions in the first post, it’s time to step away from the computer, honey. Because when that sort of concetrated bitchery gets to be so ingrained that you don’t even notice it? You have a serious problem.
February 28, 2007 at 7:09 pm
* Raises Hand
I didn’t hate the article, so please don’t say “everyone.” I think Kara and Erica did a good job. And I have thought several times that I hope they aren’t disappointed. Then I tell myself they seemed like cool chicks and PUBLICITY for the ETN is a good thing
February 28, 2007 at 8:27 pm
The writing of the article was excellent. I hope they move to a bigger market w/ better editors.
Lil, if you want a “neutral place,” get your own blog. Seriously. Stop using the comments of Erie Bloggers’ blogs for your pontification.
February 28, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Jen,
It’s sometimes hard to know who is being addressed, but I think you might be addressing your comment to me regarding using the word “everyone.” I just want to clarify that I did not use that word. I have a feeling that when I was saying certain bloggers had nothing nice to say (not one) I could have and should have made it more clear that I was saying I noticed that one/two of the critics had “nothing nice to say about the story….not one nice thing.” Just gripes.
You may have interpreted my use of “not one” to mean “everyone” had nothing nice to say.
I hope I’ve made sense in clarifying that.
February 28, 2007 at 8:42 pm
Lilith, seriously, get your own blog. Stop hijacking Eden’s and start your own. It’s not hard; any idiot can set up a blogger account, so I’m sure it wouldn’t take you long to get your own part of the ’sphere where you could rant and rave to your heart’s content. Here, I’ll even name it for you: “The Spaghetti Monologues.” There, have at it.
February 28, 2007 at 10:30 pm
kimberly: “any idiot can set up a blogger account”
So I’ve noticed.
Truthfully, it makes no sense to me why some people think having one’s own blog somehow gives thems a sense of self important legitimacy over those who don’t. Especially if, as we’ve seen here today, so many people admit to using pseudonyms, anyway. Kimberly herself has admitted to using a fake name for her blog at one time. And that’s okay with me. That’s not what the discussion was all about, even if that is where it ended up. So why even pull that card out? Kimberly reminds me of the ex-smokers who think they have the right to preach to and condemn those who haven’t quit yet.
I suppose insisting that anyone who wants to make comments must have their own blog does make sense to some of you, if not most. I’d never hold it against you, though. I just don’t understand why so many of you hold it against those who do not choose to host their own blog and make it public. I doubt the reception would be any different even if I did make my own blog public.
And I still don’t understand why people who do have blogs and post them in very public forums get so upset when people comment on them, but only if the comments are candid aka prickly.
Strokes are always welcomed.
Alas, I can recognize when I’ve overstayed my welcome. I did feel welcome at one time, but that was back when I was giving strokes.

And thus, Lilith once again proves the Greater Fuckwad Theory of the Internet.

“Truthfully, it makes no sense to me why some people think having one’s own blog somehow gives thems a sense of self important legitimacy over those who don’t.”
lilith - it’s not giving a sense of self important legitimacy over others, but rather their own space to voice their opinions. the reason being that this post was mostly about star wars and not about blogging.
there is something in blogs called a “trackback”. basically it’s a link back to someone else’s blog from your own blog. it provides a way to track a conversation from blog to blog rather than engaging in long diatribes in the comments of other people’s blogs. most blog sites support this feature.

So does “Idol.”

I missed “AI” last night but unfortunately I saw the boys sing on Tuesday. I like the Chrises but otherwise, someone wake me up when the flotsam and jetsum get filtered out.
See, Hawk is off at D&D on Tuesdays and if the kids are naughty, I threaten them with AI.
