Shopping, socializing and physics

The human population of Chez Piggyhawk has me plumb wore out today. I just thought I’d take a moment to share how we spent a cold, sleeting Wednesday afternoon.

So as to make sure everyone is updated on the status of my underwear, I bought three new bras and three pairs of panties at VS today. I got those Ipex bras. They’re nifty. At LB, I got a skirt and two outwear scarves ($3 each — teh awesome), a necklace & a pair of earrings. I got mascara and lip gloss at Macy’s (and samples as well, apparently); had great service at the Lancome counter as well as at VS.

At B&N we got a buncha stuff. Off the bargain table, I got a book of “erotic selections” or somesuch. Basically the “good parts” written by Real Authors. You know the kind of thing I mean. Also a book about Cook & Moore, complete with full skits written out. Yes, I am that much of a geek. I used to be able to do the whole Frog & Peach skit by memory. There was also a book on physics which, surprisingly, was my idea. I actually find physics phascinating* but I only ever had a very, very poor teacher so Iwhat I know, I learned out of books like these. We also got a children’s book about a penguin looking for its mother and two Pottery Barn design books (I know, but I like them; I can’t help it): dining spaces and work spaces. I already have kids rooms, outdoor spaces, bedrooms and bathrooms. I may have living spaces but I’m not sure. I may be thinking of the catalog. Hrm, let’s see. Oh, I got the Amy Winehouse album. We also got the kids a “Woody’s Round-up” CD and the Backyardigans Volcano Sisters DVD.

I was over at Amazon taking that DVD off my wishlist and I saw this, which is still on my wishlist, and I thought the choice of “star” was strange. I assume it’s alphabetical:

The Wizard of Oz (Three-Disc Collector’s Edition)
DVD ~ Clara Blandick

That’s Aunt Em, for those who don’t know. Remind me to show you the Witch of the East doll from McDonald’s BTW.

So anyway…

There was something else from B&N but I’m not sure what else we got. It’s all kind of a blur now.

Update on Minnerva: Hawk & I both keep slipping and calling her “Miranda.” Anyway, she has used both litter boxes (upstairs & downstairs) for both elimination purposes. Whoo! I’m not sure she’s really eaten any of her kitty chow but she did rip into the bag of puppy chow I’d intended to return to PetCo. Last night S says, “They have claws. They’re good for ripping bags.”

Oh yeah, we went over to S&S’s for dinner & adult conversation about important topics like the new Backyardigans episodes and how Spider-man got his black suit. We also got to dine with B of B&B and their boys. So Zoe and Holden both had fun playing and we had yummy food (S makes a damn good tilapia) and talked to real life adult type people. We agreed (I think) that Grindhouse would probably be fun, as we seem to be a group of Tarantino fans. I don’t think I’ll be going, since Hawk doesn’t think it looks very good (I watched the Thanksgiving trailer on YouTube and laughed my ass off; I would probably be asked to leave by the disturbed Altoonans all around me if I did go to the theater). So it was cool to talk to people when it didn’t involve a keyboard (but you know I dig my online buds, meaning you — yes you). Of course I came home & yakked w/ Kimberly until way too late. Speaking of which….

Zoe has finally gone to sleep so I think I’ll be hitting the road. Or the bed.

* an old high school joke; actually I think it was “physics is phun”
