Track a doodle doo

I use two stat trackers and neither one of them is giving me search term info (both used to so I’m wondering if the WordPress changes have affected them). I want to know what people are searching who end up here. It’s making me a bit crazy.

I mean, why am I the go-to authority in the world for “Five Clicks to Jesus?” I mean, I just shared a link that Busta had shared. I get why these are always up there:

… b/c post titles are everything.

I also like knowing when other bloggers link to me so I can return the favor.

So can anyone recommend a good free tracker (that’s compatible w/ WordPress)?

  • Sitemeter’s always done the job for me. Free and easy. Gives you the search terms, locations, etc. Mine’s public, so if you click on it you can see how the info is organized. G’head!

  • I’ve used sitemeter, too, with good results.

Also, if your WordPress is installed by a site host, you can check your stats with the built-in stat checker, AW Stats (accessible via the C-Panel).

Finally, http://www.lijit.com is a good free tracker that tells you where (geographically) visitors come from and gives search terms. Also, it lists your most-read posts.

(Also, I bet Steph will have some good suggestions when she comments).

  • LOL @ Deb. I’d be sad that you know I’m a total geek, except I’m okay with being a total geek.

On this one, though, I keep it pretty simple – Google Analytics (I’m not sure if it works on WordPress.com blogs or not), SiteMeter (again, don’t know if it works here, but it’s available as a WordPress.org plug-in, so maybe) and the WordPress.com stats plug-in. Between those three, I get a pretty clear picture of my traffic.

But inbound links? Shooooo. I wish I could find something that actually worked for that. Most of the time I just happen to notice I’m linked/blogrolled/whatever when I’m leaving a comment.
