The paper is your game

So Beta (my HS friend) comes with her young son to pick up Nina (her 13 yr old, our babysitter) and I’m in the kitchen making supper (shepherd’s pie). I have on one of my sooperawesome mixtapes and it’s playing Buckcherry’s “Crazy Bitch.”

So I say, “Let me go in the kitchen and turn this off around the kids (meaning hers and mine).” Also it was loud and I needed to attend the cooking food so we’d be going into the kitchen and blah blah blah.

Nina says, with the embarrassment of a 13 year old, “This used to be my mom’s ringtone.”

That’s why Beta is my BFF.

  • It’s sad to become an embarrassment isn’t it? You and me both dearie.
    Cheers

  • Ha! That’s hilarious!

We have rules around here like “words that are OK to use at home, but not around Grandma,” and other such goofs. It helps the world roll smoothly in its track…

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’ll think of you when we head up to the Stanley. :-)

  • Uh. My ringtone now is “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from the “Nutcracker.” Uh.

But my ringtone for you is “Techno”! :)

I used to have Elvis, but everytime someone would call, I thought it was the radio and didn’t answer. Then I had Rick Nelson “Garden Party” and the same thing happened.

Maybe I should update my current ringtone?

Words to use around Grandma: We were watching a good movie the other night and all of a sudden someone said “. . . or go F*** yourself.” I looked at Eden’s grandmother, no reaction. Later, someone used the “f***ing” word. Still no reaction. But shortly after that she went to bed - so maybe that was the reaction. Oh Well.
