So I’ve been conducting an experiment over the last few weeks. The kids were sleeping in and staying up late. I wanted to get that switched around for two reasons. First is that Zoe’s going to kindergarten in about a month (eep!) but the more immediate and more important reason is that today, The Dark Knight opens and I wanted to go and see it.
Gradually I’ve made dinners on a more solid time schedule, gotten them into the tub a little earlier every day and despite their getting off-track over the wedding weekend, I have them on the schedule I want: asleep by 8 p.m.
My plan worked except for one small detail:
I AM SITTING HERE AND NOT IN A MOVIE THEATER!
Why don’t I just tell Hawk that I’m going with or without him? B/c although he’s on call and therefore wouldn’t dream of going out of the house to see a movie or anything, he’s off playing D&D as gaming night has moved from Thursdays to Fridays. That’s right. He went out. And here I am with you. But I like you more so it works out fine. Have a cupcake…
- nom nom nom-
And Bets, his mother, is “at camp” with Scooter, Char & The Things so even if I decided “screw you, I’m seeing Dark Knight,” I would have to leave my younglings. I did find out that it’s playing at the drive-in but yeah, I’m certainly not going to enjoy that film at the drive-in. I wanted a dark, air-conditioned theater, popcorn with pseudobutter and a bucket o’ pop to make my moviegoing experience complete.
So it’s 8 p.m. on a Friday night — the Friday night I’ve been looking forward to since a release date was mentioned — and I’m deciding which knitting project I’ll pick up while I watch my new Netflix acquisition: “Prime Suspect” Season 4 Disc 1 (BTW: Did you see Dame Helen in a bikini? Lawda’mighty). Although I also have 3:10 To Yuma and might just watch a Christian Bale movie tonight anyway. Maybe I’ll watch Batman Begins and sigh wistfully. I might put on the Batgirl costume while I’m at it.
Christian Bale: I’m a housewife all alone who has homemade cupcakes and knows 27 ways to please you.
Call me.
Thing 2 is having a birthday party tomorrow at 1 and I already made vanilla cupcakes to take to Wynne’s. Her shindig doesn’t start until 3. I’m leaving the party at 3, possibly as late as 3:30 once I get the kids bundled. I might make brownies tonight. I haven’t decided. It’s 8 o’clock. And whither the Batman?

I want to know how someone gets to 63 with NO CELLULITE WHATSOEVER!!! Even though I’m slim, I have a little and I hate it. Hate hate hate.
What were we talking about again? Oh, husbands. Don’t get me started. I want to see TDK, too, but Jeff’s superbusy. I asked Miz 15 to go with me and she gave me a look. Mean. What’s wrong with going with your mom? Tee hee!

Does it help that I like you better than Christian Bale?

It does. It’s b/c I look better in the outfit, isn’t it?

If it’s any consolation, it’s well worth the wait!

I think we’re taking the baby to see it next week. I hate to be ‘those people with the infant’ but I’m not missing Batman just because I bred

My concern with taking the kids to a theater film wasn’t the content of the film so much as the volume level. Infants don’t care what’s on the screen. The place is dark and cool & there’s a boob/bottle nearby. But the loud noise… that could be a problem. Esp. in an action movie. Have you done it before.

We stashed the kids with my folks and went last night. It’s worth the wait, and I hope you get to go soon! It was a “This needs to come to my house to stay on DVD as soon as possible” kind of thing.

I love you a whole lot but not more than Christian Bale;)
It was fucking awesome, and I thought I was going to die too- wed considered the midnight show Thursday because Bu worked Friday night, but then remembered that we are tired parents and that I needed to work Friday morning. I’d have preferred to hang out with you and your cupcakes than the county fair, but those were the cards we were dealt. Meh. I hope you get to the theatre post-haste:)

Hey, I saw “3:10 to Yuma” this weekend. This Christian Bale person of whom you speak is hot.
