A closet full of nothing to wear

I ordered some shoes and will send back what doesn’t work. I got a couple sizes of these:

And these:

I have a pair of black heels that are older than Zoe and from Payless. They don’t fit very well (I went up half a shoes size post-pregnancies) and I’ve meant to get new black heels for years. So we’ll see if these work.

Here’s a sampling of what I have in the closet that could be appropriate:

Tops (would pair w/ black pants or black knee-length A-line skirt):

Purple paisley top

New blue print top

Blue

Plain red knit shirt

Red

Blue print top

Circles

Red print top

Floral

Black dress (could do anything w/ this):

…like add bold jewelry:
Black dress w/ necklace

Bottoms (I’d have to do a plain knit shirt with these, possibly a light sweater — see last pic for an example — and the shoes I ordered are both black):
Reversible skirt

Reversible

Pink/peach skirt

Pink/peach

Purpley print skirt

Bold floral

Plain t with red side of reversible skirt:
Sample combo

I’m partial to the first top. I like the blue top better but I think the purple paisley (double wink) one would look better for the occasion.

Opinions and comments welcome. I’m getting my brows done tomorrow night so I might take a quick look around the ol’ LVM and see if I have other options. You know I like to wear blue on TV. Blue looks best on TV. I learned that from Oprah.

  • Is the top pair of shoes Sofft? If so, I highly recommend them.

I also like the first top. :)

  • I like the fact that you have “tv outfits” and frankly, the purple paisley thing is too fun NOT to do.

  • I like the first one but the second one best. Or the black dress with kick ass accessories. :)

    Wheee! How fun!

  • I like the red top with the stripey shoes. Think a solid top would be best on TV.

    Holy shit: “on TV!”

  • My advice is wear whatever you are most comfortable in. That being said, I’m a huge fan of black and dark blue. I would probably choose the black dress and stunning accessories.

My sympathies to Hawk for not having Tyra on his list.

Between you and Mr. Moorhead, my degrees of separation are dwindling.

  • LOVE the shoes! Are the top ones suede? I’m not sure about wearing prints on TV. I think the women on the news pretty much wear solid colors, so you might want to think about the plain black (with cool necklace, of course), or look at some other solid color tops/dresses.

  • Good spot. They are suede. I had meant to order the non-suede but got the suede instead. I liked the silver/pewter of the buckle and got carried away ;)

  • Purple paisley is too much of a chance to miss. The LoveDwarf of Funk will have apoplexy in front of his TV when he sees you. Never mind all that sensible girly advice you’re getting. Dress for satire!

  • Grapes gets it ;) I’m taking purple/paisley back.

  • Purple definitely. Not the red – remember that old story about the camera. And nothing “too busy.”

And if you can believe it – I have the same circles shirt in a v-neck! Yikes – another similarity. :)

I love the black dress with black shoes and perhaps dark (not black) nylons and gorgeous jewelry! You will look gorgeous!

    So classy. So “New York”.

    I love New York! :) I love you! :)

  • Seriously, dear, listen to your muthah. (insert Jewish/NY accent)

  • Black dress, great accessories, or the first top with black pants.

  • It doesn’t matter what you wear. They’ll be listening to you, not looking at what you are wearing. What you are going to talk about is important. But if I HAD to pick….second top with black pants. Torquiose looks great on camera.
