#37 “Clotted cream tea.”
I told you I had everything to check this off. Made scones this morning. Then made tea. Made scones into proper clotted cream scones and ta-da! It was delicious. By the time I got around to eating, it was 11 and I thought, “I’m doing this for breakfast?” Then I realized it was teatime in the UK and I felt better.
And by teatime, I don’t mean this guy.

Isn’t 11 am “elevenses”?

It is indeed. In my case, it was also first breakfasts.

btw, can you describe the clotted cream? Wikipedia left me thinking it’s midway between whipped cream and butter?

Yes, you would think “clotted” would have lumps in it. It was light and whipped-like but more solid than whipped cream. It was unsweetened, like plain cream, in terms of flavor. The scones were only slightly sweet so only the jam provided any real sweet flavor.
It was like if you whipped a lot of air into cream cheese, I’d say, and then let the bubbles settle out. But the flavor isn’t strong like cream cheese. It’s more of a texture than a flavor, in terms of the entire concoction.
