Get on the floor

Hawk has been discharged from the ICU and is on a regular floor, complete with a Grumpy Old Man roommate. I said, “It’ll be like ten days with your dad!”

He spoke to his dad tonight; his mother’s line was busy, as usual. I feel like telling her when I call her at our designated time, “Well you could have talked to him if you’d just shut up for ten minutes at a time.” That would feel good. But it wouldn’t be very nice.

In the meantime, Beta has potty trained Holden and binkie-weaned Zoe. I think I may owe her a Corvette.

  • Great news! And can I borrow Beta for a few days? ;)

  • goodness, I *might* consider procreating if Beta would come raise my babies.

  • Would that be a little red corvette? ;)

  • I need to borrow her.

Great news on the grumpy old man room.

  • I’ve followed the whole situation with Hawk but didn’t have any words of wisdom. I know this thing pushes you into a certain kind of adrenaline fueled stress that’s hard to dial back from. I hope you guys have a smooth transition back to normal life although another ten days seems like an eternity right now.

Does Beta hire out? Cause I need some potty training help.

  • I have no public comment on the little red Corvette situation, although I can tell you that they start at about $45k and go up from there to about $75k for the convertable.

I can also say that there was the suggestion of a car but a more immediate & realistic suggestion was made by Donna from Steubenville last night that I think I’ll try to pull off.

  • YAY! Finally some really great news. I hope he comes home sooner than later.

Can Beta come to my house? Does she do 2 year old attitude adjustments too? Cause I have a 4 Runner up for trade.

  • I’m pretty sure you owe Beta a Corvette. At least.

Glad to hear Hawk’s doing better. YAYAY!

  • YAY! Glad to hear he’s out of ICU!

  • Yippee! Regular room at last:) Can I get on the Beta wait list, too please? I need potty training, too.

    xoxo

  • Wonderful news! Things are looking brighter!
“There is in every true woman’s heart a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.”~Washington Irving.
You’ve been burning brightly. I hope soon your spark of heavenly fire can rest!
    : )

  • That’s good news, and so welcome today. I sort of have to laugh because when my dad was in the hospital for 4 months earlier this year (before he passed away) he was probably the grumpy old dude in a room like Hawk’s. Grumpy old dudes are misunderstood! ;)

  • Turns out the grumpy old man is okay. He ended up putting his TV at a reasonable volume but he still complains unnecessarily about the nurses. I think, as a doc (and just as a person), that’s what Hawk finds most offensive.

  • I used to chide my father for being that way to nurses, but I sort of got it after several months of visits to his numerous rooms/hospitals. He was helplessly stuck in that bed, often talked down to, as if he had no mental faculty, and constantly being given meds and getting poked for blood. On top of that, he was just not himself, so I could understand the complaining, even though I didn’t like it.
When I was hospitalized, I had one horrid “crack ho” roommate making drug deals on her cell in between nurse visits. I also had a ninety-something, nearly deaf lady roommate who messed herself often, and was mistreated by two of the nurse’s aides (or whatever they’re called these days). I finally got so worked up about it that I called in the RN.
