Girls Day
The only way to do it is to do it I suppose. Kids are tangled up in Spongebob so I can write something.
Yesterday Zoe and I had “Girls Day.” We were out for eight hours. We began with the 10:15 showing of HP6, which was delightful. Zoe took a dolphin. She takes an animal everywhere. I had told her about the Inferi and Dumbledore so she was prepared. I liked it very much. She was bored at times but liked “the funny parts.” I also think she has a thing for Ron. I know she has a thing for Owen Wilson. Upon multiple viewings of “A Night At the Museum,” she declared, “I like Jed. I like his face. Do you like his face Mommy?” “Oh yes, Zoe. I like his face.”
So anyway…
Since the movie was at the mall, afterward we went in to the mall (this was at 1 p.m.). First we made an appointment to get her sixth birthday pics taken. Then we went to the playground and she played for over half an hour. While intrigued by the HP merchandise in the windows at Hot Topic, she refused to go in b/c it is “too scary.” Then we went to Wacky Bear, which is a total Build-A-Bear rip-off. She got a dog named “Cookie” and put her in a pink dress w/ sheep on it and pink shoes with pink bows on her ears.
At this point in live time, Holden is trying to take her blanket and hitting her. Having stopped all that, I resume my attempt to write a blog entry.
So after Wacky Bear, she was totally enamored of Cookie so I took the opportunity to look for a reunion dress at Lane Bryant. Our on-again-off-again HS reunion is currently “on.” I got two dresses, both of which I’ll be wearing anyway. One is red and one is orange. I’m 90% sure I’ll be wearing the red one.
After that, we went to get Zoe some school shoes and soccer shoes. They didn’t have her size in soccer shoes and she went in wanting Skechers (due to advertising) but came out with New Balance b/c the N looks like a Z. Then we had a late lunch at The Carrot Store (Cracker Barrel) followed by a round of checkers on the porch (she won). Then in the parking lot, there was some moaning and gnashing of teeth. I said we were going home but she wanted “more Girls Day.” So I made several suggestions, which were greeted with “but my brain doesn’t know what it wants!” So I suggested we go shopping at the Goodwill b/c they have toys. I’d never been to this Goodwill. As Goodwills go, it’s pretty nice. I found a $25 fur coat in my size but buttoned, it didn’t have much give. I asked Zoe her opinion and she said, “You look like a hairy animal!” Then I wanted to look at the leather jackets and since we had been on our way to the register, she said, “Come ON Mother. Don’t you want to be a team?” She gets “Mother” from Nina the babysitter. We got a green stuffed bear and a Little Tykes art table for a grand total of $9.52 w/ tax.
Then there was another bout of “more Girls Day.” When I suggested mini golf, it was as good as if I’d said, “Let’s go see Harry again!” So we played a round of mini golf. By hole 14, she wanted me to hit her ball for her. Then she was back in it. Then she rode a couple of coin-operated rides and we came home and collapsed. She also decreed that on Daddy & Daughter Day, she wants to see Harry Potter (or possibly Aliens in the Attic) and go bowling.
Wow. I got through an entry. Whoo! Next attempt will be soccer and then sex toys. It’s been a while.

Mouse calls these events “unicorn days.”
“I also think she has a thing for Ron.”
who doesn’t have a thing for guys named ron?
Yes, this is true. I hadn’t considered that angle
when I saw “girls day” I thought it would be about sex toys…..
That’s a future post in a few weeks…
No. The proper answer is “That’s coming.”
See? See what I did there? *nudge nudge*
heh…
